Welcome

Welcome to the home on “the Web” of the Supermarine Air Rifle Club.

We are a target shooting club that competes in the Swindon & District Air Rifle League (a league founded in 1923). The league is open to teams of 12 shooters who fire on a home and away basis in league competition. There are also various individual competitions that run through the season.

Supermarine ARC hosts its matches at Supermarine Rugby Club, where we are lucky to have excellent facilities which include the ability to host large competitions. The main hall can accommodate eight firing points with enough room for over one hundred shooters with all their equipment. There is also a smaller room with three ranges in another part of the same building.

The Supermarine Air Rifle Team is in the envious position of having a full membership at the present time and we are not seeking any new members. There are many other clubs in the Swindon & District Air Rifle League that may be looking for new members. There is a link to the left of this paragraph to the league where contact details of the other clubs can be found.

FAQ

Are you looking for new members?

Not at the moment. We have more than enough currently to meet our league commitments.

Can I just turn up at the range?

No, we have induction sessions for new shooters. Use the “contact us” button for first contact.

Can I come along and use my own rifle?

Only if it is an officially recognised .177 target air rifle.

Why is that?

Because air rifles made for vermin control or just “plinking” are more powerful and will damage our target boxes.

Can I come along just to practice (I don't want to be part of the competitive team)?

No, we exist to take part in the Swindon & District Air Rifle League. Team members and opponents only are allowed on the range.

An email from Dave Thompson (air cylinders)

I was trawling through the web site from the links of the .177 swindon web site,
I believe you might be interested in some of the info there!, like the life expectancy of one's air cylinder, there is was also a recall on certain air cylinders
which i shall need to check if mine falls within the date catagories, and a picture of an exploded cylinder.
I was wondering if any of this info might be of special interest to all members of the league as a whole who might not be aware of the criteria of thier beloved air rifle cylinders and such.

Regards

David
